About the Pastoral Area
The Mid North Pastoral Area comprises the parishes of Waitaruke, Kerikeri, Moerewa - Bay of Islands, Kaikohe and South Hokianga (see map). This pastoral area is administered by the Marist community at Okaihau.

Mass is celebrated in the first four parish communities three Sundays every four weeks, according to a rotating timetable.
On the other Sunday the local community celebrates a liturgy of the Word with Communion.
In South Hokianga, The Mass and the Liturgy rotates through the communities of Rawene, Waiwhatawhata and Whirinaki. First Sunday: Whirinaki, Second Sunday: Waiwhatawhata, Third Sunday: Whirinaki, Fourth Sunday: Rawene. For the fifth Sunday the community will have decided where the celebration will take place.
